Witness a one-off
interval entertainment in the form of deviant deck activities. Kirsten
Reynolds, a founder member of PROJECT DARK, more familiar with spark-generating
discs and exploding, rocket-powered record players takes the vinyl
for a spin with conceptual Blu Tack sculptors and DJs Jake and Dinos
Chapman.
Black vinyl
discs from the extensive WIRE archive form the raw material for
Reynolds and the Chapmans for 20 minutes of sonic sculpting and
audio manipulation. No ice creams in this intermission.
PROJECT DARK
will play at the 'Turnament' DJ and turntable event alongside John
Peel, Kool Herc and John Oswald, amongst others, on 12 July 2003
UCLA, Los Angeles, USA.

WIRE recorded
their first album Pink Flag in 1977, and it has become one of the
seminal art punk records of the 70's. Since their inception, WIRE's
work has been defined by an inability to stand still, through punk,
psychedelia and various twisted pop and experimental electronica.
Performed for the first time ever in its entirety by WIRE, who better
to tackle the presentation of the art-punk icon Pink Flag, than
contemporary visual artists Jake & Dinos Chapman, who make their
theatrical design debut.
The Chapman
Brothers shot to fame with their first solo exhibition in 1996,
creating the renowned mutant child mannequins that encapsulated
themes of innocence and moral boundaries.
send is WIRE's
latest work on the Pinkflag label, performed with stage direction
and design by Es Devlin, who has been described as a poet of "light
and sound".
PROJECT DARK
release a CD album Gramophone De Luxe on the Phono Erotic
label in June 2003. This CD release will be available internationally
from posteverything.com.
